
McAllister Park
McAllister Park is
one of the main mountain biking areas in San Antonio. McAllister Park
has been a cycling area since the early 70's. The Park offers primarily
a beginner to intermediate riding experience with a variety of terrain.
The beginner areas are predominately located near the pavilions, with
the intermediate areas on the northern boundaries of the park and on the
Airport property.
To get to
McAllister park take US 281 north towards Johnson City. Take the Bitters
exit and turn right. Continue and stay left on Starcrest when the road
splits. Turn left on Jones-Maltsberger and watch for the entrance to the
park on the right, after the Police Substation. When the entrance road
T's, go straight and proceed to the back of the park to Pavilion #3.
There are approximately 20 miles of trails. McAllister Park is also a
favorite jogging/hiking spot in San Antonio, so be prepared to yield the
trail.
